On Saturday 20 May 2023, the second edition of RunWithME will take place in Rotterdam! This running event is organised to raise as much money as possible for scientific research into Meningitis and Encephalitis, in order to prevent as many brain conditions as possible in the future. The run will take place during the day, followed by a drinks reception. Will you run with us? That would be amazing.

Every minute, 5 people worldwide are affected by encephalitis and meningitis. Those affected can die from it or sustain permanent brain damage. This is also the case for Jur Deitmers, who, during his studies at Erasmus University, suffered from acute encephalitis in America on March 10, 2017. After fighting for his life for 5 weeks, he lost his entire memory. Following an unprecedentedly rapid and arduous learning process, he has, despite his doctors declaring it impossible, acquired knowledge again and even managed to graduate! After this dark chapter in his life, he founded the independent ItsME Foundation in 2019, where the ‘M’ stands for Meningitis and the ‘E’ stands for Encephalitis. This foundation is dedicated to further research into the brain to keep it healthy. We, as a committee, are committed to raising as much money as possible through a running event in Rotterdam for scientific research into Meningitis and Encephalitis, in order to prevent as many brain diseases as possible in the future. We really need your help with this! Jur now looks back positively on his encephalitis, as he is now uninhibited and it has also brought him qualities, such as writing poetry. So, to conclude:
