On Saturday 27 June 2026, I will be walking 50 kilometres for the 3rd time for awareness and research into brain (meningeal) inflammation.

On this day, we are especially thinking of our dear Thijs, whom we so wish we could have seen grow up for longer, seen playing with his sister Sara, seen discovering life and growing bigger. As parents, we experience a huge void in our lives.

We also want to continue to enjoy everything that is there. We have learned what is truly important in life, what really matters, and what happiness truly means.

Yes, we are still experiencing happiness now and also realise what happiness we had before this awareness was present. The love remains, is palpable in the whole spectrum of emotions and is visible in the small enchanting things of life. We weave Thijs into and through our lives as a family. Walking this 50km is also part of that.

On this day, we ask for extra attention to the symptoms of meningitis and for increasing survival rates by supporting research for a greater chance of and better recovery.

Will you help by donating or walking with us (=it's a unique and very special bonding experience)!

All small donations are welcome!
