Are you participating in a sporting event, such as a running race, cycling race, golf event, triathlon or kitesurfing? Are you throwing a party and don't know what to ask your guests? Do you want to organise a fundraising event with your colleagues or at school for a good cause? Are you organising an event yourself for a good cause?

Action for existing project start

Start your own action here and invite everyone you know to support you.

Some tips from ME

  1. Create a personal fundraising page
An action page with your personal story and photos will lead to more donations. Upload some photos related to you and your cause. Explain why you started the cause. The majority of your supporters will donate because they feel a connection with you and want to support you.
  2. First a few donations, then seek publicity
Before asking for attention for your action, it's wise to already have a few donations. First, personally ask your family and best friends to donate before asking everyone else. A good example sets a good precedent.
  3. Put the link of your action page in your email signature
That way, anyone who emails you sees your action.
  4. Verbal contact and with the help of a mobile phone
Tell people at work, school, clubs, in the canteen, and at parties about the campaign you've started. Ask them to sponsor you straight away and not to wait until they get home. Anyone can easily view and donate to your campaign using their smartphone, with an option for a Tikkie payment if desired. Get straight to the point!
  5. Regularly post blogs and share them on social media
In your blog, you can share how your campaign is progressing, and then share it on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn. The power of a message lies in repetition...
    Examples of status updates:
    • If you are participating in a sports event: tell us about your preparations and take photos of them. Tag the people involved in your preparation in your post.
    • Thank people publicly every time you receive a donation. When others see this, they'll be more inclined to do the same. Seriously, it helps!
  6. Engage your donors in your final sprint!
Experience shows that the last two weeks of your campaign receive the most donations. That's the final sprint for your campaign. So, kick off your final sprint properly and ask your donors for help with it. Because they will also want you to reach your target amount.
  7. Contact companies to sponsor you
Don't forget to also approach companies for sponsorship. Your employer, a good client, a trusted supplier. As thanks, you can write and distribute a special news item/blog about them, mentioning their name. Or place their logo as an image on your fundraising page.
  8. Keep going: keep reminding people!
Not everyone will donate straight away. Therefore, send pleasant reminder emails or WhatsApp messages if they haven't donated yet. Persistence pays off 🙂
