As a Friend of ME, you're more than just a donor. You're closely involved with ItsME's mission and contribute to progress. With your multi-year support, you help fund research, raise awareness, and foster connections regarding meningitis. You not only help financially but also by utilising your network and involvement. Every euro you donate to ItsME goes directly to the foundation’s mission. A significant part is invested in medical and scientific research carried out by leading researchers and institutions in the Netherlands and abroad.

We deliberately keep organizational costs to a minimum. These costs are covered by proceeds from fundraising events. ItsME is run almost entirely by volunteers. Only the managing director role is a paid position. This ensures that your contribution has the greatest possible impact.

Yes. Transparency and connection are important to us. In our online annual report, you can read which research projects we support, the steps we are taking, and what we are achieving together. You will also find information about our events, communications, financial accountability, and plans for the future.

Yes, it can be. ItsME has ANBI status, which means that your donation may be tax-deductible if it meets the applicable conditions.

Part of your donation may be refunded through the Dutch tax authorities. This means your contribution can provide up to nearly 50% more support for research, without costing you more.

Tax-deductible giving is possible through a periodic donation agreement. This means you commit to donating a fixed amount each year for at least five years.

Benefits:

  • The full amount is tax-deductible
  • You receive a tax benefit of up to 49.5%, depending on your income
  • You help make long-term research projects possible

Together, we create continuity and progress.

  • You donate the same amount annually for at least five years. This can be paid in installments or as a single annual payment.
  • This is recorded in a periodic donation agreement, prepared by ItsME.
